Both in anatomy and function they consist of two distinct regions. adrenal cortex (outer layer). adrenal medulla (seperate endocrine gland). adrenal cortex has 3 zones (produce own hormones) but nerves are connected to SNS and are involved with the fight or flight response. hormones produced are epinephrine and nor- epinephrine vascular activity- a second set of changes occurs in the blood vessels, particularly vasoconstriction. perceptual narrowing- each of the perceptual senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch as well as "sixth sense") provides info to brain. brain will tune in to sense with the most relevant information. all others are tuned out as they lack immediate significance. once exposed to survival stress, humans become binocular (use of both eyes to process information). This occurs as a survival requirement to receive more light and information. vision- when peripheral narrowing occurs, 70% of vision is lost (spotlight or tunnel vision) sight alignment- the role of the visual system on accuracy has generated considerable debate. The weaver camp places considerable emphasis on using the front sights and targeting with the dominant eye. motor skill classicfications - Answer- there are 3 basic motor skill classifications 1. fine 2. complex fine- skills that require hand eye coordination and hand dexterity. heart rate reaches 115bpm, vasoconstriction affects hand dexterity used for fine motor skills
