Change is inevitable in every organization, and it goes without saying that if the organization does not embrace it, it will be outdone by its competitors. On the other hand, industrial evolution and change refer to the processes used to alter the way organizations work by becoming more efficient at what they are doing. It is essential to realize that change can affect how organizations operate, thus affecting the critical components of their operations. As a result, organizational change can take many forms, including technological, planning, structural, human resource, and task-related changes. They're all based on the reasons and requirements for the changes and how they are implemented. This paper examines the evolution of the New York Times and the factors that influenced the Industrial Revolution. There's also a look at some organizational challenges with technological advancements, such as New architecture and disruptive technology. Finally, this paper discusses the challenges NYT company faced during the change process and offers suggestions for dealing with strategic management. Nature and reasons for change According to Jaillant (2019), the New York Times is undoubtedly one of the worldwide read newspapers from the united states. They have won more Pulitzer prizes than any other news organization in the United States. Many other publications have seen a significant drop in readership since the twenty-first century. Unfortunately, the New York Times is no exception to this rule. Because of the digital age, newspapers are no longer required to be printed. As more people gained access to the internet, newspaper readers began to weigh their options. People found these new concepts to be more entertaining, so they adopted them. According to Hantrais at el. (2021), when it comes to establishing a presence on digital platforms and gaining readership, the New York Times has undergone technological changes. Organizations quickly adapted to new situations and thus dealt with the fast-changing environment. Furthermore, the New York Times has made significant investments in digital journalism in recent years. New features, such as B, are being introduced. A comprehensive set of mobile apps with various educational articles enhances the overall customer experience. On the other hand, some competitors could not keep up with the changes and were forced to close their doors. Challenges of Technological Change The New York Times gladly embraced the transition to the digital platform. However, this was not an easy journey for the organization. NYT took plenty of time to identify its customers' needs and the exact value they expected from the organization. In pursuit of credible and trustworthy news sources, readers needed "the news" and sought fast information offered in different formats. Besides that, many magazine readers felt that there was a need to personalize it by having a preference in giving their validation on their interactive segments. At this time, the newspaper faced one of its most challenging times in history by trying to embrace the new technology. According to Jaillant (2019), the barrier to entry into the market led to many web pages offering free news, thus creating stiff competition to the New York Times. The organization also faced technological hacks that enabled the information's readers to escape from paying the subscription fees; thus, the institution suffered through the hacking theft by not making its daily sales within the market. At the end of it, many people thought about how to access the information, and they believed that they should have access to information by making it accessible at no cost. By having a clear look at what people felt, it is evident that the reader demonstrated against NYT charges so that they could gain access to free news. Through this, many readers were trying to justify the hacking process to access the information against the organization. In the face of these challenges, the New York Times stood firm, arguing that digital revenue and individual contributions were where they generated their incomes. In contrast, the company shifted to digital and advertising models that differed from print media. However, it is also important to remember that newspaper companies do not require expensive printing equipment to keep their websites up to date; instead, they need the best programmers and net web website online developers. Difficulties Faced in Developing New Organizational Capabilities When an organization is faced with challenges, it needs to develop new strategies for dealing with them; for instance, in this case, the New York Times, the organization was forced to side-line their old culture to accommodate new ideas and diversify the needs of their customers. The New York Times had to embrace the experiment and accept that it might fail to implement further organizational changes. Second, employers needed to shift from a department-led environment to allow cross-departmental collaboration to achieve efficient results. Developing a mobile app, for example, required a team of experts in content creation, technology, and marketing. Finally, employers needed to post-match their ingredients as efficiently as possible to satisfy their customers' eating habits. Recommendations to Managing Strategic Change According to Hantrais at el. (2021), The New York Times is fighting to keep its position as America's most trusted and reliable news source. On the other hand, organizations must consider improvements to serve their customers better. First, organizations must examine their databases to identify users who must need to pay long-term subscription fees. After 20 days of free access, readers will need to pay a monthly subscription fee to use the app. Because of their financial situation, some readers may find this problematic. The organizations should allow readers to pay for articles per-article rather than a one-time fee. Secondly, besides sending relevant tailor emails to users, the New York Times should reduce the number of notifications. Apps must help realize the readers' favorite reading habits to provide a more personalized reading experience to support this organization. The New York Times faced several significant challenges transitioning to the digital age. Although faced with numerous challenges, the organization overcame them and has emerged as the leading provider of credible and trusted news. Nonetheless, among other recommendations for managing strategic change, the client should be given better information and commercials ads should be removed from news videos, and the subscription fees rule should be changed. Change is unavoidable, and no one can stop an idea that has outlived its usefulness because, in the end, businesses that refuse to embrace it suffer irreversible consequences. The New York Times should learn from its mistakes and begin to embrace new technologies that will help it compete in today's market. They must adapt to the digital market and create an IT department so that their readers can access their news through a mobile app on their phone.
