in your own life? How will you embody this value as a dental student and, later, as a
dentist? (Please provide specific examples.)
Dentistry demands more than just dental expertise in today's rapidly advancing world.
Professionalism is one of the major conducts emphasized in every career field. It involves strong
ethical conduct and accountability, and reliability in dentistry tasks. Growing up, my father knew
I wanted to work in the healthcare sector, and he always taught me the values and requirements
of a medical professional. I have embodied this value by being ethical, having proper time
management skills, and always remaining accountable for my siblings and the tasks assigned to
me. For example, when I get to a new place, I understand the required rules and responsibilities.
My father has taught me that as a medical professional, I must follow the rules to remain ethical.
I also submit my assignments before the date and get to the lecture room on time. These skills
will help me, especially when dealing with a tight schedule. In addition to building my habits, I
also wear clothes that are presentable and respectful around people. Although not always, I train
myself to be an active listener by not answering without understanding what someone shares
with me. I try not to impose my opinions on anyone and rather have them make their own
decision which is one of the major ethical conducts of a dentist.
Professionalism means that one is proficient with what they do and they are keen on
details. As a dental student, I will embody this skill by thoroughly completing my classwork. I
will always concentrate and ask follow-up questions to enable me understand the dentistry
details keenly. Additionally, I will research more about the skills I am supposed to have and
learn regarding my career, which will boost my efficiency in dentistry.
