1. Describe the role of nurses as knowledge workers. Nurses gather data, which is then used to create information and knowledge. When previous knowledge and experience are applied to intervene it is known as wisdom. As an example, a piece of data without context has no meaning until we give it a meaning. The number 50 alone means nothing. It could be a person’s age, a heart rate, or even a room number. If 50 is determined to be a heart rate, the nurse can decide if there is intervention needed.
