Module question 1a
Explain how the way in which we learn about the scientific method in college instruction
surpasses the way we learned in high school
The way the scientific method is learned surpasses the method used in high school. The
scientific method is providing a way of solving problems during experiments. However, its
application differs depending on the age and the students' ability to develop certain skills. The
scientific method begins with asking a question that helps a person conduct the background
research. The second step is the formation of a hypothesis that should be proven or disproved via
experimentation. The third step involves conducting the experiment to observe and track the
results. An experiment is aimed at testing a hypothesis. Finally, the advanced student analyses
the results and comes to a conclusion. The case is different for younger students since they use a
simpler scientific method version. The approach requires the simplification of the language, but
the complexity of the experiment depends on a student's ability.
Module 2 question 1b
What is an anthropologist's code of ethics when studying archaeological cultures?
No matter the method anthropologists use, they must abide by certain codes of ethics
when conducting their research. Cultural anthropologists should always put the research subjects'
interests and welfare before the research. Therefore, they should seek consent from the group
they intend to study, which may include seeking additional permission from the authorities
involved in research. Cultural anthropologists need to be cautious in their approach since their
interventions could change the culture, which is not their role as researchers. Some people might
