The plight of street children and other children from impoverished
sections of our society, who are forced into labour early in life and are
denied the opportunity of schoolingas well as the small and carefree
pleasures of childhood.
Significance/Relevanceof the Title:
Spring is usually associated with youth/childhood, vitality, energy and
happiness. So, essentially the title alludes to the loss of childhood of these
children who have been deprived of the pleasures, privileges, nurturing
and freedom that is ordinarily associated with childhood.
"Sometimes I find a Rupee in the Garbage"
Highlights-
• A glimpse into the lives of young rag pickers through the eyes of the
author.
• The author also reveals how the more affluent sections of soCiety
are quite unaware and disconnected witlfthe hardships and*
