that in Thebes, Créon has decreed that her dead brother Polynice should be left outside the city
walls and not buried
that Antigone has defied the orders of the king, her uncle by burying her brother. She does not
hide the fact
how she is a symbol of resistance (the play was written in 1944)
that she is prepared to die for her beliefs and principles and is standing up against a tyrant
