Wounding or causing GBH with intent
Wound/ cause GBH with intent to do serious harm (Belfon) or
with intent to resist arrest (Morrison).
Indictable offense - maximum life imprisonment. More serious
than s.20 due to MR.
S.20 AR cases are still relevant: Dica, Burstow, Eisenhower,
DPP v Smith.
Belfon - D slashed V’s neck with razor blade, not enough that D
foresaw likelihood of GBH, D must intend it (intention to do
really serious harm)
Morrison - V told D she was arresting him and D jumped
through the window, taking V with him and V sustained cuts to
the face - wounding with intent to resist arrest is enough for s.18.
