Unfortunately, in most cases, it does not become a priority for someone until they have a health concern. Nutrition is defined as the science of the nutrients in foods and their actions within the body.[ CITATION Ell19 l 1033 ] Nutrition is crucial in ensuring that the body is receiving all of the nutrients that it needs, within proper ranges. Water, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins, and minerals are all essential to human life. Specifically, the proper amounts of these nutrients will keep a person functioning in a healthy manner for as long as possible. If a person overconsumes nutrients for an extended period, they will more than likely become obese and develop related health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure. Another example of an unhealthy habit would be if someone does not consume enough water. This would cause issues with the tissue cells, digestion, the nervous system, as well as many others because water plays such an important role in the chemical reactions within the body.
