(10) QUESTION 2 (20) Read the following case study and then answer the questions that follow: You are teaching Grade 3. Your principal, Mr Mofokeng, is impressed with how you keep a progress report of your learners during art activities. You have divided your observation sheet into emotional, physical, social and cognitive skills. He praises you for organising the selected activities in such a way that they meet the needs of each child. 2.1 Explain briefly to Mr Mofokeng how you develop a checklist by compiling questions for each area of development. Substantiate your answer by referring to the criteria you use to observe each area of development during various art activities. (10) QUESTION 4 (32) 4.1 Study the picture below and answer the question that follows: 4.1 Name and describe the stage that is represented by the picture. (4) 4.2 Outline any four principles of design you have studied. (6) 4.3 Psychoanalytic theories believe that children draw what they feel and not what they know, and that children’s art is a form of nonverbal expression that reflects their emotions and unconscious thoughts and feelings; it serves as an outlet for tension and pent-up emotions. On the other hand the perceptual or gestalt theory explains that children see the whole image, but leave out the finer detail of the image. Create two drawings that illustrate these different theories. Explain your drawings. (10) 4.4 Design a presentation that you can deliver to parents to explain why the assessment of their children’s art work is important. (12) TOTAL: [100]
