The HCA Nurse Residency is an intentionally planned, year‐long program. The first part of the year is focused on patient care, and the remainder of the year is devoted to your professional development. Both parts of the residency program are essential to your growth and success as a professional nurse; therefore, it is essential that you participate in all residency events during your entire first year of hire. 3 HCA Nurse Residency HCA Nurse Residency: Components ORIENTATION & ONBOARDING StaRN Program & Preceptorship MONTHLY SESSIONS Core Curriculum for Professional Development PROGRAM GRADUATION Evidenced-based Project Presentation Facility recruits, interviews and manages candidate selection *Final date for candidate submittals to HealthTrust ‐ 2 weeks prior to cohort start HealthTrust manages license verifications, background checks and payroll Facility manages health screening, FIT test and drug screens *Due 1 week prior to cohort start Facility hires Residents who have successfully completed the program Resident commits to 2‐year employment with facility (Market Specific) HealthTrust provides skilled clinical instructors with recent bedside experience HealthTrust coordinates national standard didactic and high‐fidelity simulation training HealthTrust provides training to facility‐selected preceptors Facility ‐and‐ HealthTrust manage Residents throughout 6‐8 week preceptorship Interview On-Boarding Training Offer StaRN Administration 4 StaRN: MedSurg/Telemetry 12 weeks 5 weeks classroom, self study, skills & simulation 7 weeks preceptorship Mosby Elsevier Core Curriculum (New) 5 days simulation training ECG, TeamSTEPPS, BLS/ACLS, CPI cert
