We can see from the probability distribution, that if a hurricane hits the U.S. coast, there is a .403 probability that it is a category 1 hurricane.

This problem and the next, illustrate the relationship between percentage and probability. Since 54%
of the students are female, if you choose a student at random, from the school, you will have a .54 probability of choosing a female. Since 46% of the students are male, if you choose a student at random, from the school, you will have a .46 probability of choosing a male.
