Autorhythmic cells of cardiac muscle
Autorythmicity:
The electrical activity of the heart and how the heart contracts rhythmically.
Cardiac autorhythmic cells are composed of:
1. Sinoatrial node (SA node).
2. Atrioventricular node (AV node).
3. Atrioventricular bundle (bundle of His) The only electrical connection
between the atria and ventricles.
4. Purkinje fibers in the ventricles: Right and left bundle branches.
It takes approximately 0.22 sec from the
start of depolarization at the SA node to the
last cardiac muscle contraction in the
ventricles
