Groups

2.Werkwoord na el voegwoord
3.Werkwoord einde van die sin

WHEN A SENTENCE BEGINS WITH A CONJUNCTION:

Rule 1: When the sentence begins with “AL”: Then your formula is
AL + verb (of Sentence 1) + Sentence 1, verb (of Sentence 2)
+Sentence 2
(AL V1 S1 V1 S2)

Rule 2: When the sentence begins with ANY OTHER CONJUNCTION,
your formula is:
Conjunction + Sentence 1 + verb (Sentence 1), verb (Sentence 2)
+Sentence 2
(V S1 V1 V2 S2)

Rule 3: Swap the two sentences if necessary, to make sure the
final sentence makes sense. If it starts with time voegwoorde like:
o Voordat
o Nadat
o Aangesien
o Toe (when, then)
o Omdat

E.g. Ek gooi ou joerante, tydskrifte en papier in ons herwinningsblik.
Dit kan herwin
word.
Aangesien dit herwin kan word, gooi ek ou koerante, tydskrifte
en papier in ons
herwinningsblik

**Nadat – Past tence always 1st sentence/ but can choose to do both
sentences in past when in doubt
E.g. Die dogertjie huil. Sy het geval.
Nadat sy geval het, het die dogertjie gehuil – had to swap to
make sense
E.g. Die onderwyser raas met die seun. Hy stuur die seun na die
skoolhoof toe.
