Dear Students
Thank you for submitting high quality assignments. Nearly all of you exceeded the
expectations and I appreciate your hard work.
The main purpose of this module is to enhance teachers’ knowledge and skills to
translate the policies on Inclusive Education into classroom practice.
We strongly urge you to apply what you have learnt in the module to promote
inclusion and advance human rights and social justice for all your learners.
This tutorial letter contains the following information:
Section A: Feedback on Assignment 1
Section B: Feedback on Assignment 2
Section C: Feedback on Study Guide Activities
Section D: General Guidelines for the Online Examination on 2-4 December 2020
Section A: Feedback on Assignment 1
Design an Inclusive Education Learning Programme that meets the three criteria
outlined below.
(i) The theoretical underpinnings according to which you will design the
programme. Comprehensively discuss your selected theoretical framework.
(30)
This open question allowed you to select the theoretical framework of your choice.
Please revise the theoretical frameworks presented in Study Unit 1 of your study
guide. At postgraduate level, you were expected to:
critically evaluate a range of learning theories applicable to the
implementation of inclusive teaching and learning
describe how each theory will influence your teaching practice in your
inclusive classroom
reflect on your own practice theory of inclusive education
Remember, the focus here is to describe how you will draw on the theory to re-shape
your own classroom practice. We are not interested in the rhetoric, we want to see
policy come alive in your classroom.
The focus is therefore on the practical IMPLEMENTATION of the policy.
Reflect honestly on the complexities involved and be mindful of the need to
continuously improve what happens in your classroom.
