the trochaic tetrameter shakespere gives the witches makes them sound childish and unreal
perhaps undermining the idea they have real power. As we consider the fact they never tell
Macbeth to do anything, it can be seen supernatural is not the cause of his tragedy. so perhaps
there is a deeper cause such as macbeth being a psychopath or that this martial society has
simply shown him that slaughter is the only way to promotion and he simply loves killing.

==============================================

shakespere could have made 'macbeth' as an attack on masculitnity as his pessimism at the
change from queen elizabeth the first female queen replaced by james a male king. The main
character in the society are male and each male makes a catostrophic decision which leads to
thier ultimate falls. Duncan keeps naming people thane of cawdor who turn out to be traitors and
nearly looses is country. Macbeth keeps killing after he's killed duncan. Macduff abandons his
family and makes a delibrate error which leads to thier death. Banquo keeps his conscience clear
and never tells anyone of his suspicion which leads to his downfall.

==============================================

Macbeth's lack of love for lady Macbeth :
'she should have died hereafter' - a sign of inconvenience, resentment, indifference
death happens off stage to symbolize his lack of love, even interest
he ignores her, doesn't go to her
he hardly speaks about her, right after her death and focuses on himself

================================================

In a patriarchal society, Lady Macbeth has embarrassed him in public when he says Banquo's
ghost and humiliated him in private by calling him a "coward". Shakespeare points out her proper
place in this patriarchal society by having her die off stage. She is punished for being unsexed
and rejecting her gender, her feminine role.
