Electronic health record (EHR) functions Four electronic health record (HER) function records needed by clinical end-users in acute care settings are computerized provider order entry (CPOE), patient support, clinical decision support (CDS), and POC documentation. A1. Use of acute care function CPOE is a process where providers enter and send treatment instructions, including medical records, lab results, and radiology orders via computer. CPOE’s matter in the acute care setting because it helps reduce errors by providing patient safety, improving efficiency, and improving reimbursement. CPOE organizers ensure providers stabilized and complete orders with the technology of a built-in “clinical decision support” tool that checks for potential problems.
