A dreary place is Ancoats,
’Tis full of smoke and fogs,
The lasses wear shawls on their heads
Their feet are shod with clogs.
’Tis really not a pleasant place
Upon a rainy day ;
We have to start with Ancoats tho’,
for Ancoats starts with A.
