Unit 3 Social media in Business
Assignment 1

Introduction

Organizations use social media to connect, provide customer support and to respond
to concerns/ problems that could occur and also organisations use it to advertise
their goods and services to the online network by using social media. I'll also look at
the audience services provided by the major social media sites, for example focusing
my report on the top five, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Youtube. I'll
also explain why these social media giants look to various audiences and, as a
result, find out why these companies are drawn to each of these platforms. In
addition, as part of this assignment, I will choose one particular company and
examine the various ways in which it uses social media to market its goods or
services to its target audience. Finally, I will analyze how a business uses social
media to communicate with consumers and sell its goods or services to its target
market.

How Organisations use social media to create an image or
brand.

Organizations often use social media to establish a brand or logo for the wider
market. For example, they may use social media to project a picture of how
they want to be viewed by the general public or their customers. For instance,
if they want to be seen as a friendly organization of black lives matters, they
can post content on social media that demonstrates their concern for
discrimination towards black people and their racial prejudice, organisations
can support for causes relevant to the change agenda. Another example is
that some businesses may want to be viewed as professionals by their
customers or potential customers. They can use social media to share
content, such as that to make people interested and clear of what they’re
offering. However, a new organization, on the other hand, may use social
media to promote their brand and get the word out. But typically an
established organisation may launch a new brand and use social media to
promote it, for example, Adidas has a range of trainer brands, and if they
introduce a new one, they can reveal it on social media so that their
customers are aware of it, for example, the NMD R1 was released to social
media.

How Organisations use social media to communicate.

Organizations may use social media to easily engage with their audiences.
For example, they can send information to their audience that can be
immediately read. Also, contact may also be achieved in a private way, such
as using Facebook's or Twitter direct-messaging apps. Organizations, such as
supermarkets, will post information on social media about rationing goods to
just four items per consumer because of Covid-19. Customers will also be
expected to wear masks while visiting supermarkets, according to the
information however a disadvantage of this some old people may not use
social media and will not be able to see it for example 38% of people who are
75+ use social media in the UK that means 62% may be at risk to not see this
information you can see that as the age increases the percentage decreases
of people using social media this may limit the number of people who are
accessible to see important information from an organisation.
