Digital SAT Summary Notes 2026: Reading and Writing + Math, Mind Maps, Formulas and Strategy

These high quality notes condense the full Digital SAT preparation into a well-structured summary guide. They were written for the November 7, 2026 test date and match the current digital format: the Bluebook app, two adaptive modules per section, 98 questions, and a 2 hour 14 minute testing time. The guide is organized the way the test is organized. You’ll learn how the adaptive format works and how to pace each module. Then you move through every Reading and Writing question type and every Math domain, with the rules, formulas, and traps that come up most often. Five diagrams and mind maps show how the pieces fit together, so you can see the whole test on one page instead of rebuilding it from scattered notes. What’s inside: A test snapshot covering format, timing, scoring, the built-in tools in Bluebook, and per-question pacing for both sections. A flow diagram explaining how Module 1 performance decides the difficulty of Module 2. A Reading and Writing mind map with all four content domains and eight question types, plus a method and a common trap for each type. A Standard English Conventions cheat sheet covering sentence boundaries, punctuation, subject-verb agreement, pronouns, modifiers, verb tense, and parallel structure, with a decision flow for punctuation questions. A transitions table sorted by relationship (contrast, addition, cause and effect, example, sequence, concession). A Math mind map covering Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry. Worked examples for linear systems, quadratics, the discriminant, exponential growth, probability, and right-triangle trigonometry. A formula table that matches the Bluebook reference sheet, plus strategies for Desmos, backsolving, and picking numbers. A table of common mistakes with a fix for each one. A four-week study roadmap leading up to test day, an error-log method, and a test-day checklist The notes are short enough to review in the weeks before the exam but complete enough to work as your main revision resource. They’re useful for first-time test takers building a plan, for students retaking the SAT who want to target weak spots, and for anyone who wants a clean refresher before a practice test. Use them alongside official practice tests in Bluebook and the free official practice on Khan Academy or as per your preference. Digital SAT Summary Notes: November 7, 2026 Exam
Reading and Writing + Math · question types, rules, formulas, strategies, and a 4-week plan

1. Test Snapshot
The SAT is fully digital. You take it in the Bluebook app, it has no essay, and it adapts to your
performance. These notes are built around the exact structure of the test, so you can practice each
piece under the right conditions.

Calculator Not needed Allowed on every question. A
Desmos graphing calculator is
built into Bluebook.

• Total testing time: 2 hours 14 minutes, with one 10-minute break between the two sections
• Total score: 400 to 1600, made up of two section scores of 200 to 800 each
• There is no penalty for wrong answers, so answer every question
• Passages in Reading and Writing are short (about 25 to 150 words) and each has one question
• Math has a built-in reference sheet with common geometry formulas
• A few questions in each module are unscored pretest items, and you can't tell which ones they
are. Treat every question as if it counts.

Tools inside Bluebook
• Timer you can hide or show
• Mark for Review flag and a question map that lets you jump between questions in the current
module
• Highlight and annotate tool for passages
• Desmos graphing calculator and the Math reference sheet
• Answer eliminator, which crosses out options you've ruled out

, 2. How the Adaptive Test Works
The test adapts between modules, not within them. Module 1 of each section has a mix of easy,
medium, and hard questions. How well you do in Module 1 decides whether Module 2 is easier or
harder. A harder Module 2 gives you access to the highest scores.

adaptive test flow · 2 sections, 2 modules each

The same pattern repeats in both sections. A strong Module 1 sends you to the harder Module 2, which
is where the highest scores are available.

• Module 1 matters most. Careless errors here can lower the ceiling on your score, so go slowly
enough to be accurate.
• Within a module you can move back and forth, so flag hard questions and return to them.
• You can't go back to a module once you've submitted it.
• A harder Module 2 feels difficult by design. That usually means Module 1 went well, so don't
panic.

Pacing rules
• Reading and Writing: spend about 70 seconds per question. Grammar questions are usually
faster (30 to 45 seconds), so you can bank time for harder reading questions.
• Math: aim for about 95 seconds per question on average. Many algebra questions take under a
minute, and some word problems take two.
• If you've spent more than twice the target time on a question, flag it, guess, and move on.
• Always leave an answer selected before you move on. Then use any leftover time to revisit
flagged questions.
