2 Facilitation of Context-Based Student-Centered Learning Course Outline Template Please see the attached document. Course-Related Information Aspects of the Course The Community Health Class is an eight-week course that will benefit the learner by providing opportunities for the undergraduate bachelorette student to achieve the skills needed for the development of a community health assessment while using the nursing process to create and implement care to various populations across the lifespan. Students are introduced to community didactics and ways to support and promote positive outcomes for vulnerable populations. The course will facilitate student-centered learning, enroll a maximum of 40 students, and will meet weekly on campus for 7 hours. The student will be introduced to eight specific concepts during the duration of the course that aligns with the BSN essentials and the core competencies prevalent in professional nursing practice as they relate to community health nursing. The role of the BSN nurse in the promotion of community health is to provide care and health promotion practices to all vulnerable populations in the community. Specific topics include foundations of Community Health Nursing, epidemiology, factors that influence community health, community assessment, health promotions across the lifespan, vulnerable populations, population health problems, and disaster management. Specific concepts of the course include the evolution of the community health nurse, epidemiological concepts used in improving community health, the impact of politics on the community, observing and describing the community by conducting a community needs assessment and performing a windshield survey, describing various health concerns of populations across the lifespan, identifying healthcare challenges of vulnerable populations, learning the lasting effects of substance abuse,
