0 1 This question is about steel spheres rolling along an inclined track.
Figure 1 shows an end view of a ‘U-shaped’ track with a sphere inside the track.
The distance between the internal edges of the track is 10 mm.

The track is inclined at an angle θ to a horizontal bench as shown in Figure 2.
The walls of the track are transparent. A line XY is drawn on the bench at the lower
end of the track. XY is perpendicular to the track.

A sphere of diameter 8 mm is placed at position 1 at the raised end of the track.
When released, the sphere rolls a distance L to position 2 at the lower end of
the track.

The watch is stopped at the instant when the sphere reaches position 2.
