Cyber Security: Importance, Threats and
Protection
Introduction
Cyber security has become an important part of our everyday life. We use
computers, smartphones, websites, online banking, social media, and many
other digital services. While technology makes our lives easier, it also
creates opportunities for criminals to steal information, damage systems, or
access accounts without permission. Cyber security is the practice of
protecting computers, networks, devices, applications, and information from
these threats.
The purpose of cyber security is not only to protect large companies. It is
also important for students, teachers, families, businesses, hospitals, and
government organizations. Even a simple personal account can contain
valuable information that someone may try to steal.

What is Cyber Security?
Cyber security means protecting digital systems and information from
unauthorized access, misuse, damage, or disruption. It includes different
methods and technologies that help keep data and computer systems safe.
For example, when a person uses a strong password, enables two-factor
authentication, installs security updates, or avoids suspicious links, they are
practicing basic cyber security.
Cyber security can be divided into several areas, including network security,
information security, application security, cloud security, and device security.
All of these areas work together to reduce the risk of cyber attacks.

Common Cyber Security Threats
There are many types of cyber threats. Some of the most common ones are
explained below.

1. Phishing
Phishing is a technique in which an attacker sends a fake email, message, or
website designed to trick a person into providing information. The attacker
may pretend to be a bank, company, teacher, or another trusted person.
For example, a user might receive a message saying that their account will
be closed unless they click a link and enter their password. The link may lead
to a fake website created to steal their information.
