1. Virtual Network (VNet)
Definition:
A private network in Azure that allows resources to communicate securely with each other, the internet, and
on-premises networks.
Key Understanding:
Acts like a network in a regular company
You control:
IP address ranges
Subnets
Exists in one region only
2. Subnetting
Definition:
The process of splitting a network into smaller sections (subnets) to improve security and management.
Purpose:
Limits access between them
Reduces risk of attacks spreading

3. Subnet
Definition:
A logical subdivision of a VNet used to organize and isolate resources.
Key Points:
Each subnet has its own IP range
Used to separate:
Databases
Web servers
Applications
Example Subnet Layout:
10.0.1.0/24 → Web Servers
10.0.2.0/24 → Databases
10.0.3.0/24 → Applications, internal services
10.0.0.0/16 → Users on the internet
4. IP Addressing
IP Address:
A unique numeric identifier assigned to a device on a network.
IP Addressing:
The process of assigning IP addresses to devices so they can communicate.
Key Idea:
For IP-to-IP communication, every resource in Azure needs an IP address
5. Logical Isolation
Definition:
The separation of resources so they cannot communicate unless allowed by network rules.
Purpose:
Prevents unauthorized access
Controls traffic flow
