Sexism

Women are undoubtedly a pillar for the existence of humanity. This implies that without

them, females, humans would cease to exist. Despite them being all-important, the way the

community usually perceives them is alarming. This is just but one of the reasons that compelled

Alice Pace to address this issue in the Sexism in Language article. It is as if women do not get

the respect they need, and in light of that, they are usually branded names that are insulting and

might lead to the lowering of their self-esteem.

Various animal names are given to the women. According to Alice, some titles include

shrew, Female dog, better known as bitch (Nilsen, 263-264). The names used to address women

have contextual meaning when used within society. Shrew means that the woman is naïve and

has a lousy temper, whereas shrewd, for their male counterparts, suggests that the man is

proficient in the business niche (Nilsen, 263). Furthermore, when a woman is called a bitch this

implies that she is enslaved to what the speaker wants he to be in their mind, whereas a man will

be called the son of a bitch, and this does not necessarily mean that he is the one insulted but

rather his mother (Nilsen, 263). Society seems to be inclined to refer to women that way.

Some professionals approach the matter imprudently because they lack concern

whatsoever. The army usually has a perspective that it is a place where ordinary people are
