INTRODUCTION:
I. Stress can affect a person's health, body, thoughts, and behavior. If left untreated, it can
cause health problems. An example would be school. The overwhelming amount of
homework, pressure, and exams will alert the brain's hypothalamus and trigger
individuals' stress hormones. These are the same hormones that trigger your "fight or
flight" response. This releases stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. I become
more stressed during fight or flight mode due to a condition I have called mitral valve
prolapse, which causes my valves not to close as quickly. Stress can affect a person's
overall well-being. According to (Watson, 2018), Stress can affect a person's central
nervous system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, muscular
system, immune system, sexuality, and reproductive system. Avoiding caffeine, alcohol,
and nicotine is the best way to reduce stress.
