Closed loop communication

acknowledging the receipt of information and clarifying with the sender of the communicated

Contact point

The sender

begins communication process with a message (also known as encoding).

The message

The receiver

Feedback

Effective communication

Barriers of effective communication:

Physiological, physical, or psychosocial.

Physiological barriers

sensory dysfunction on the part of either the sender or the receiver (such as speech

impairments).

Physical barriers

elements in the environment such as noise (such as the inability to hear).

Psychosocial barriers.

inaccurate perception of self or others, defense mechanism employed to cope with some form

of threatening anxiety. (attitude, age, beliefs, values, educations, language, culture,

nationality, etc.).

Ethics

distinction between right and wrong based on a body of knowledge, not just based on options.

Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

governs the disclosure of records maintained by government agencies.

Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Veracity- Obligation to tell the truth.

Fidelity- duty to do what one has promised.
