QUESTION 1: Creative Arts Integration and Climate Change Awareness
1.1 Design a cross-disciplinary Creative Arts project that combines at least two art forms (e.g.,
Visual Arts, Drama, or Music & Dance) to explore Climate Change and the Environment.
The cross-disciplinary Creative Arts project I have designed for Grade 4 learners is titled "Our
Changing World: A Story of Identity and Environment." This project integrates Visual Arts and
Drama as the two primary art forms, combining the static, expressive power of visual creation with
the dynamic, performative nature of drama to explore the complex themes of identity, environment,
and climate change.
This integration is deeply rooted in the principles of arts education, which emphasises that while
performing arts recognises that integration is fundamental, it also acknowledges the need for learning
skills separately in the different art forms, and that there are many complementary and overlapping
areas of practice (ICA1501, p. 17). The project is structured to take place over several weeks,
allowing for deep engagement and reflection, and will culminate in a public exhibition and
performance for the school community.
