- Normal Control Laws
- Direct Control Laws
- System Monitoring - ANS What does each FBWC contain?
- Inertial reference source
- Air data source
- At least on PFCC - ANS Normal mode control laws reside in each PFCC and require?
One - ANS How many FBWC are required for flight?
- Both side sticks must be in neutral position to engage the AP
- Pilot controls do not move when the AP is engaged
- During AP operation, the side sticks are locked in neutral
- If sufficient force is applied to either side stick, the AP disengages and both side sticks are
freed - ANS What Autopilot logic does each PFCC contain?
The flight control system reverts to PFCC direct mode in all axes following a degradation in
required inertial or air data input to all three PFCCs.

, Note: The FBW system remains in PFCC direct mode following further failures as long as PFCC
direct mode requirements are maintained by at least one PFCC.
Note: In PFCC direct mode, flight control surface position commands are generally proportional
to sidestick and rudder inputs with limited augmentation. - ANS When would PFCC Direct
Mode occur?
- The PFD DIRECT message comes on.
- If normal mode was lost due to a failure in the air data system, the FLT CTRL DIRECT ADS CAS
message comes on.
- If normal mode was lost due to a failure in the inertial reference system, the FLT CTRL DIRECT
IRS CAS message comes on.
- DIRECT MODE is shown on the FLT CTRL synoptic. - ANS How do you know if you are in PFCC
Direct Mode?
The FBW system reverts to REU direct mode when all PFCCs have failed, or command signals
from the PFCCs to the REUs are lost.
Flight control surface position commands are routed directly to the REUs from the sidestick,
rudder pedals, FLIGHT SPOILER lever, and trim switches. The REUs calculate flight control
surface positions based on direct mode CLAWS that reside within the REUs.
This mode has the same functionality as PFCC direct mode with the following additional
restrictions:
• Sidestick priority selection is unavailable
• Automatic GLD is disabled
• MFSs are manually deployed after landing
• GSs remain retracted - ANS If you lose all three FBWC (PFCCs) what happens?
Three - ANS How many FBWC are there?
- The DIRECT message is shown on the PFD.
- The FLT CTRL DIRECT CAS message comes on.
