Bloedvoorziening
Bloedvaten dringen nooit binnen in epitheel weefsel
-> epitheel is dus afhankelijk van diffusie van zuurstof en VS van onderliggende weefsels

Epitheelcel
Cytoskelet van epitheelcel bestaat uit keratine

KERATINE
 Keratine-eiwitten worden in alle epitheelcellen geproduceerd
 Specifiek type keratine in specifieke epitheelcel
 Kunnen keratine-filamenten vormen (invermediaire filamenten)
 Belangrijk voor keratinisering en verhoorning

CELPOLARITEIT
=> epitheelcellen zijn gepolariseerd: apicale, basale, laterale domeinen zijn functioneel verschillend
Epitheel gesteund door onderliggend basaalmembraan
