Theseus
● Zoon van Aigeus (koning van Athene)
● Groeit ver van het hof op, zijn vader heeft hem ooit een gewijd zwaard meegegeven.
Theseus verricht veel heldendaden en op een dag keert hij terug naar het hof van
zijn vader. Aigeus herkent hem in eerste instantie niet.
● Aigeus is op dat moment getrouwd met Medea en deze boze stiefmoeder is bang dat
Theseus de plaats van haar zoon Medos in zal nemen. Daarom zet ze Aigeus ertoe
aan om Theseus te doden. Aigeus herkent op het laatste moment het zwaard en
breekt met Medea.
