What is mental health? A state of well-being that enables people to cope
with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn
well and work well, and contribute to their
community. Integral to general health, more than the
absence of mental illness. Can be possessed and
enhanced. A sub-concept of wellbeing.
What is mental illness/disorder? A health condition characterized by alternation in a
variety of factors that include mood and affect,
behaviour, and thinking and cognition. Associated
with various degrees of distress and impaired
functioning.
