A. The Conservative Party influenced the nomination phase by front-loading open primaries
during the early months of the nomination, which allowed any registered voter to
participate. With the Conservative Party making this choice, they aimed to target specific
groups, such as those who weren't previously registered Conservative Party members,
and essential figures and politicians who would publicly endorse Candidate A, which was
encouraged by party leaders. This tactic gave candidate A early popularity for selection
during the nomination process, which gave them the edge over other candidates in the
Conservative Party.

The Liberal Party took the opposite approach and embraced the idea of closed primaries,
where only a small set of people could vote, only party members, which limited voter
participation. This created a more competitive environment for the candidates and
allowed for a more neutral competition where Candidate B only secured their nomination
through their merit in each state. This strategy took longer to secure the nomination due
to the limited number of votes than the Conservative Party. Still, Candidate B was able to
pull ahead by midsummer after Super Tuesday.

B. The general election results were very close, giving a marginal victory for Candidate A
with the difference being under two million votes, or 1%. Media influence held
advantages in different ways for both candidates. Still, it was ultimately the candidate
who had a larger appearance on less-traditional platforms, such as television or
newspapers, and on more modern platforms that had more influence. Both parties
leveraged digital platforms to target the younger audiences and win their favor. Candidate
A primarily focused his campaign on more modern platforms—podcasts, social media,
and online news outlets- to emphasize his message of technological and economic
growth, which is more influential in the election year 2040 than traditional media.
Candidate B favored traditional platforms to deliver healthcare reform and climate action
plans. Liberal critics encouraged Candidate B's campaign team to focus more on
leveraging his message on digital platforms, which would give a better chance of
reaching his intended audience and not just on legacy media, which is typically not as
popular as digital media anymore.
Interest groups for both parties played key roles in influencing policy discussion and
voter turnout (WGU, 2025). Promises made by candidates attracted different interest
