Tasks
This task assumes you are new to networking and have never used a Telnet Client application before. In this lab you will download one such client (PuTTY) and configure it for
connecting to INE's Rack Rentals.
To begin with, within your web browswer open a page to Putty.org
If you are using a Mac Laptop find a version of PuTTY suitable for your operating system. At the time of this writing, this link would get you one.
Download the application.
Configure PuTTY to match what you see here. The relevant things to change are;
Hostname = racks.ine.com
Connection type = Telnet
Port = 23

Task
Login to Switch-1 in your rack and perform the following actions:
Enter Privileged EXEC Mode (also called, "Enable Mode")
Erase your Startup-Config File (the command used should begin with the word erase)
If you see a message that begins, Erasing the nvram filesystem... and are asked to confirm, press your Enter/Return key on the keyboard to confirm
Delete the vlan.dat file (that stores VLAN and VTP information) by using the command, delete flash:vlan.dat (hit your Enter/Return key twice to confirm)
Enter the Reload command
If prompted to save your config your answer should be No
If prompted with a query, Proceed with reload press your Enter/Return key to confirm.
Wait several minutes. The reload will be completed when you see the message, Press RETURN to get started!
Press your Enter/Return key and you should see a message asking if you want to enter the initial configuration dialog.
