PART FUNCTION
Testis Produces sperm and testosterone
Epididymis Matures and stores sperm
Sperm duct Carries sperm from epididymis to the
urethra
Seminal Vesicles, Produces seminal fluid which feeds
Cowpers gland and the sperm and allows them to swim.
Prostate gland Sperm and seminal fluid are
collectively called semen.
Urethra Allows the passage of either urine or
sperm.
Penis Places sperm inside the body of the
female
Scrotum Keeps testes at a lower temperature
(35 degrees). This is the optimum
temperature for Mieosis to occur.
EXAMPLE QUESTION
Why do the testes descend into the scrotum sack?
→ This is because sperm production requires a temperature of 33-35 degrees celsius, so the testes
descend to the sack to produce it. Sperm production cannot happen without any other temperature
lower or higher than 33-35 degrees celsius.
Ejaculation → Release of sperm from the penis.
Seminal fluid + Sperms (gamete) = Semen
| Seminal fluid → protects sperms + nourishes + lubrication.
Sperm life expectancy → 3 days.
Urethra → Both for ejaculation and urination.
