Objectives: Florida B.E.S.T. Standards 2020
• ELA. 6. R. 1.1- Reading Prose and Poetry: Analyze how characters' interaction
contributes to the plot development in a literary text.
• ELA. R. 3.2.- Paraphrasing and Summarizing: Paraphrase content from grade-
level texts. (FL. B.E.S.T. Standards, 01/12/2020)
2. Students will read the novel Esperanza Rising together in class. We will read it
together so they can understand its texts and create a web diagram of the content
to understand better the novel and their interpretation of each chapter on paper.
"The drawings will be effective because they will simultaneously involve the brain's
visual, kinesthetic, and linguistic areas" (Edutopia, 2019). This means that when the
students draw what they visualize with the drawing, it will allow for a better
understanding of the text. This drawing will be simple. They can keep it in their
notebooks when it is time to complete the novel. Once the book is finished, they
can look at all their drawing of each chapter and better visualize the book as a
whole. The drawing will not be for a grade. If the students can identify one of their
favorite scenes from the passage, they can imagine and draw it. The same can be
