This design brief talks about integrating a new concept in the urban environment which is based on the process of materials assembling themselves into a structural form. This process is better explained in biological terms as, folding of proteins and nucleic acids into their organised structure as a consequence of local interaction amongst themselves or a specific external interaction. And this process is known as ‘self-assembly’

The idea behind this project of designing public spaces that power themselves is to resolve the issues of inefficiency in the functioning of public spaces due to lack energy/electricity. Public spaces need energy to carry out their dedicated functions such as provide street light, open and close entry points, display bus timetable details, speed limits, signals, directions, working of pumps, motors, etc.

The aim of our project was to “Encourage students to perform cleaning on a regular basis by redesigning a floor cleaning product that will make cleaning effective and enjoyable.” The design process and methods have helped me in critically understanding and evaluating various factors in any design problem. Also various team activities helped in planning out my major and minor design projects in terms of time management, presentation layouts, brainstorming techniques.
