We will discuss in this paper: 1- The importance of technology in communication today. 2- How can managers overcome the barriers to effective communication? 3- How can organizational leaders prevent information overload from happening?

In this discussion, we will review four different theoretical contributions, which are central to the understanding of organizations that focus on task performance and structure. Then, we will analyse the most influential from both historical and managerial perspectives. Lastly, we also examine how these concepts influenced the development of the current organizational theories.

In the 1930s, industrial psychologist Elton Mayo was commissioned to perform a series of experiments at Western Electric Hawthorne plant. These are known as the “Hawthorne Studies,” designed to observe worker performance and output levels in varying illumination conditions.
