Itching is often the only symptom, diagnosis is made by observation of the white eggs

(nits) firmly attached to hair shafts (they prefer clean hair)



To treat use a pediculocide on the scalp it is a shampoo that is put on and kept covered

for 4 hours to suffocate the louse and then a fine tooth metal comb is used to remove

every singe nit. All bedding/clothes/stuffed animals must be washed. They do not jump

or fly but are transmitted by close contact such as sharing combes and on personal

items

What is assent?

proposed medical intervention in a developmentally appropriate manner. Out of respect

for the person, a broader consent than respect for autonomy, assent (or dissent) should
