SCI 207: Our Dependence Upon the Environment
The ecoregion I am focusing on is the “Mississippi Alluvial Plain” which is named after the vast
floodplain of the Mississippi River that dominates the region, creating rich, fertile soil ideal for
agriculture.
Location: This ecoregion stretches along the Mississippi River valley, primarily in the states of
Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, and Tennessee.
Major Ecosystem Types:

Dense, deciduous forests that regularly experience flooding, providing habitat for
