The disintegration of Yugoslavia occurred due to continuous conflicts and upheavals in the early 1909s due to the political and economic crisis experienced in the 1980s. The republics belonging to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia split apart. However, the unresolved issues that rose to the inter-ethnic bitter Yugoslavian wars affected Bosnia, Herzegovina, neighbouring Croatia, and later Kosovo. The Yugoslavian Army intervened in Slovenia, where the Serb minorities of Croatia demanded their freedom which sparked violence among armed militias. The army applied Army General Administrative Instruction (AGAI) in an attempt to disarm and overpower the militia, which led to more resistance, accelerating the war, which stood in the global spotlight
