THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM IN INSECTS
THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM IN INSECTS.
The circulatory system in insects mainly consists of dorsal vessel, the diaphragm and sinuses, accessory pulsatory organs and blood. Insects have an open circulatory system. The blood (hemolymph) occupy all the body cavity (haemocoel), the internal organs and tissues are exposed freely to it.

Endocrine System in Insects
Endocrine System in Insects.
The hormones are synthesized and secreted from glands. It can be endocrine (without ducts) or exocrine (with ducts). Like other animals, insects possesses an array of hormones that regulate their diverse physiological and biochemical processes.

BODY SEGMENTATION - STRUCTURE AND MODIFICATIONS OF INSECT ANTENNAE, MOUTH PARTS AND LEGS, WING VENATION, MODIFICATIONS AND WING COUPLING APPARATUS & SENSORY ORGANS. Insect body is differentiated into three distinct regions called head, thorax and abdomen (grouping of body segments into distinct regions is known as tagmosis and the body regions are called as tagmata).

DNA REPLICATION
The discovery that DNA replication is semi-conservative helped in understanding how DNA replicates. Following this various enzymes were isolated that were known to play key role in this process. Subsequently it was found that the process of DNA replication is same in prokaryotes and eukaryotes employing same set of enzymes with some variation. In this unit we will describe the functions of enzymes involved in DNA replication and basic mechanism of this process.
