Challenges with Complete Solution | 2025-2026 Update
D372 Task 3 Case study 1
Step 1
● What are the key events in this case study?
In this case study Jamal is the data analyst of a small but growing company called Jaechap
Advisors. Jamal has become very familiar with the software that the company has used so far
however Maria, the department head, has received news that the company will transition to a
new and more robust software that is up to date. Maria is informed that the new software is very
essential in order to maintain the company's competitive edge. In the long term the new
software will satisfy the customers with more accurate data than before. The main issue that
Jamal and the data analyst team have expressed is that their productivity will decrease due to
having to become familiar with the new software which could take some time.
● What patterns do you notice in the key events?
There are noticeable patterns in this case study. The data analyst team shows some hesitance
to accept the change due to being unfamiliar with the new system but being super familiar with
the previously used system. Maria understands where Jamal and the data analyst team are
coming from, but Maria is compelled by the CEO when he says that adopting the newest
software systems is very compelling to attracting more clients and having a competitive edge
with using the most up to date cutting edge technology.
● What structures explain the patterns of the event?
The main underlying structure is that the CEO is very determined to implement the new
software into their company for the sake of staying relevant despite the productivity lowering in
the data analyst team until they can get familiar with the new software. Since the currently used
software is becoming obsolete it is very crucial for the CEO to maintain the competitive position.
Since production within the data analyst team will probably decrease, so will customer
satisfaction, however that is temporary. Until the data analyst team can get a hang of the new
system the company will be in a better position than they were before.
Step 2
Graph: Until Jamal and the data analyst team can get familiar with the new software there will
be a temporary dip in their productivity.
