Welcome from Bright Network

1. It’s about people - book: sapience
2. Resilience
3. Keep learning
4. Champions go extra - push a little bit harder
5. Focus on detail
6. Reputation
7. Long-term vision

Ebony Amoroso - director of strategic partnerships

- Don't worry about being competitive, worry about being undeniable. Be unique and genuine.
Always dream big.
- Know your subject. Form clear and robust points of view, be open minded. Have a dream-list and

be someone people want to work with.
- Prioritize in learning.

Build your dream network - Kelly Hoey: author

- Remember: how am I someone who others want to connect with?
- Sometimes trust is instant, sometimes you need to work for it by being consistent and reliable.
- Get on the company's mailing list where you want to work!! The long game. Read the info, and
find a reason to connect with them.

Three most important networks:
1. New contacts throughout internship experience - focus on industry network (bronze medaille of
importance)
a. Start of relationship with these people
b. Over time, be aware of what they do
2. Current network (silver medaille of importance)
a. Colleagues, friends, family
b. Pay attention to it - more likely to support you than a stranger
c. Let them know what you’re up to, despite being in different sectors

1

, d. Recognize the power of the networks they have
3. Peers (golden medaille of importance)
a. On the same level and experience the same as you
b. Nurture and grow
c. The most important network to support your career
d. The secret to success

- Listen and observe during conversations. Depending on the context you can ask specific
questions. Make the questions relatable. Don’t have standard questions.
- You’re always creating or reinforcing a first impression due to digitalization.
- Start with an existing network and tell them what you want to do, then you create opportunities.
- You have to show up for your network every single day. Support them and don’t ask for
anything. Show little signs of interest (birthday wish). Let people know you think about
them without any expectations.
- Have a full LinkedIn profile. Sending information is a way of maintaining a connection.
- Sharing on LinkedIn: a post a day (comment within the post) - > inform and educate people.
- Your opportunities can come from anyone in your network. If we stay too narrow, we miss out on
opportunities.
- Networking is every single human interaction. Be the person other people want to talk to. Behind
avatars there are human beings. Personal conversational ways of communicating can
improve your network.
- Be competitive within the market, but not with each other. Support each other.

Managing You - Ben Carter: growth and innovation manager

A network is not some people you have on LinkedIn, it is people who would pick up the phone for you.

1. Self-management skills
