Communication skills
Communication skills are very important in our everyday existence and particularly in
business and using my career plan m communication skills will improve. This allows me to
build skills for my future job as a business development manager. This is because; I will need
to be able to communicate effectively and efficiently. In university, I am going to need to
have an accurate communication skill that is due to the fact I might be doing things
including presentations and working in groups. For me to get a good grade, I would to
communicate with others so they can understand me. As a business development manager,
I might need to have good communication skills so that I am able to give my evaluation and
advice on various topics and decisions. Luckily my course in college and my university course
will teach me enough to the point where my communication skills may rival or better
current employees working as a business development manager. Trying to become a
business development manager that operates on a global scale comes with challenges as
the language barrier that can occur when working in various countries. One way to prevent
this from happening is to do market research on the spoken language in the country as this
would be an advantage when working there. If not, there may be misunderstandings such as
with trading and resolving problem
ICT skills
ICT skills is a very vital skill in life because we live in an era of technological advancement
and it's used throughout the world and specifically within organisations. I have learnt most
ICT skills from my time in high school and some from Harrow college. the software’s I learnt
the most are; Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Photoshop. ICT skills would be
very handy when studying international business at Middlesex University as I will constantly
need to research work and use Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint mainly to complete
assignments, course work and group activities. As a business development manager, I would
need suitable ICT skills as I would use the internet a lot and other software programs.
Having these skills will assist me in creating analysis’ that I would present to people and I
would need to ensure that I can make presentations appropriate, clear, have a lot of
information and accurate so that everyone is capable of understanding. A task I may face
during this isn't being able to effectively use software to complete tasks that I am set. One
way that I can clear up this difficulty is to take an ICT course so that I am able to discover
ways to use all software effectively so that I can carry out what is required of me.
Numeracy skills
Numeracy skills are widely used in businesses hence why it is crucial that I improve my
numeracy skills. I have learnt how to efficiently use numeracy skills whilst working and
during school. This is because when I work, I do a lot of cash handling, so my numeracy skills
must be good and at college I did a lot of work regarding numbers and analysing numbers.
