Aperçu du contenu

Select any ONE animal species that is endangered in Africa. Then, on the basis of the
research you have done, answer the following questions in relation to the species that you
have chosen. Because there are so many different kinds of endangered animals we will not
be prescriptive about which one you must choose. The only criterion is that it is a living thing
in Africa that is endangered (this does not include types of people, of course). We give you a
list of endangered species to indicate what we have in mind, but you can focus on any other
species that is close to your heart and/or that you can find information on.
Possible
species:

• Large mammals such as Rhino’s, Elephants, Tigers, Polar Bears and Gorillas.
• Small mammals such as different species of mice and bats.
• Sea creatures such as whales (which are also mammals), turtles and sharks, as well as fish
types that are in danger as a result of overfishing.
• Birds such as the Blue Crane or different kinds of vultures.
• Reptiles such as many different kinds of lizards or snakes, and amphibians such as the
various types of frogs.
• Endangered insects, such as bees or butterflies.
• As you can see from these examples, the list of endangered species is endless. You need to
select one of them.

it is important to humankind. Use African examples to support your answer.
Biodiversity, the variety of life on Earth, is crucial for the sustenance of humankind and the
health of ecosystems. In Africa, a continent renowned for its rich and diverse ecosystems,
biodiversity plays an integral role in maintaining healthy and robust ecosystems, which are
vital for human well-being. In this discussion, we will delve into the concept of biodiversity,
its importance to humankind, and explore African examples to illustrate its significance.

, Biodiversity is super important because it includes all the different kinds of plants, animals,
and environments on Earth. It's like nature's big family, with everyone playing a special
role. In Africa, there are lots of different places, like forests, grasslands, and deserts, each
with its own unique plants and animals.

One special animal in Africa is the African elephant. These big guys are famous for their
long trunks, tusks, and big ears. They live in different places, from dense forests to open
grasslands, all across Africa.

Sadly, African elephants are in danger because people hunt them for their tusks, which are
made of ivory. Also, as people build more cities and farms, elephant homes are getting
smaller and smaller.

But there's hope! Governments, groups, and even regular people are working together to
protect elephants and their homes. They're doing things like watching out for poachers,
helping communities live in harmony with elephants, and creating safe pathways for them
to move around.

I we are working together, we can make sure elephants and other amazing creatures keep
roaming Africa's wild places for generations to come. It's up to all of us to keep our planet's
family safe and happy.

2. Describe the animal species you have chosen and its habitat (should be a species
that exist in Africa).

The African elephant is a big animal that lives in Africa. It's famous for its large size, long
trunk, big ears, and tusks. African elephants are smart and live in groups called herds.

These elephants can be found in different places across Africa, like big open grasslands
called savannahs, dense forests, and even swampy areas. They're good at finding food
and water in these places.

In savannahs, they munch on grass and trees. In forests, they eat leaves and fruits from
trees. Sometimes, they even go to wetlands when they need water.

But, African elephants are facing big problems. People are hunting them for their tusks,
which are made of ivory. Also, their homes are getting destroyed because of things like
cutting down trees and building cities. This makes it hard for them to find food and water.
