Rip-off Britain
The Daily Recorder investigates consumer banking. National Bank came bottom in our latest
survey on UK banking. Here are our good reasons why you should leave National Bank.
o With interest rates as high as 20%, an overdraft at National Bank is very expensive.

, We recommend moving to banks like Halibank where the new rate of only 7% is really
cheap.
o Our survey show that staff at National Bank lacked basic customer training. They were
often rude to customers and very ill-informed making frequent mistakes in simple
bank transactions.
At SB Bank, by contrast, we found staff were well-trained and well-informed about the
accounts they offered. Our experience at SB was very positive, and the bank staff were
always polite to customers and very fast at dealing with complaints.
o When testing National Bank at lunchtime, we found long queues so service was very
slow. Other banks have learnt from customer complaints and offer a fast service with
plenty of staff at the counter.
o Finally, low levels of e-protection makes Internet banking at National Bank very risky.
Other banks have invested heavily in technology to stop e-crime and make their
services secure from hackers.
