Jason-Towns-I-human-CaseStudy Co-Occurring Disorder Name Institutional Affiliation Date CO-OCCURRING DISORDER Jason is a fourth-grade student. The client has several symptoms that need a diagnosis to determine the type of psychological disorder he suffers from and how it negatively impacts his life. The child has lost the urge to perform tasks (p.15). He is in a foster placement and has been a witness to domestic violence. The diagnostic behavioral characteristics that Jason presents in the case include inattention. Jason is disorganized and always restless in the classroom. A mood disorder is frequent in co-occurring disorders. He could not sit still but kept on moving his legs. Sustaining concentration became a problem for Jason. Jason was suffering from major depression since he had witnessed family violence. Another behavioral characteristic portrayed by Jason was impulsivity. He has no interest in classroom activities; therefore, he fails to do classroom assignments (Du Rietz, E. et al. 2018). Jason also experienced hyperactivity. He overreacted without any good reasons. Jason was restless and could act on the go; a motor drove him. His actions were due to the pain and suffering he experienced. Feeling happy and unhappy became sporadic. He could harm himself because of the suffering he is experiencing. Co-occurring disorder promotes truancy and other deviance behaviors. If the condition is not taken seriously, Jason could end up stealing, not knowing the consequences of his actions. He could go without food and starve himself for quite a long time. Jason also got bored so easily that the nurses suspected that Jason was suffering from a co-occurring disorder (p.16). Jason must be experiencing an eating disorder that he starves himself. He has developed depression, stress and anxiety. Jason also suffers from bipolar disorder and mood disorder. Jason may be on a continuum adaptive to maladaptive behavior patterns since he experiences pain and suffering (Balboni, G. et al. 2020). His situation restless and has impaired his attention. He fails to do his homework and lacks motivation in what he does. Jason is addicted to depression. The dimensional approach involves interviewing the patient. The questions I asked confirmed that Jason had Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (p.17). Distressing and dysfunction of a person could also be used to show the severity of the condition. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is an approach that can be used to determine other psychological disorders. The diagnosis criteria begin with problem diagnosis, where I have to understand the seriousness of the condition followed by assessments and interventions. The nurse will then determine if the problem has a direct correlation with the disorder. The nurse will then examine if the problems have negative impacts on the client’s life. Poor academic performance and easily distracted confirm his condition. Violation of social norms could be used as a diagnostic criterion (Jones, C. M.er al. 2019). When Jason experiences aggressiveness, he would indicate the co-occurring disorder. Personal distress that causes depression and anxiety is another behavioral pattern that could result in severe consequences. Maladaptive behavior could encourage truancy and misbehavior that cannot be accepted by family members. Mood disorder, lack of sleep and anxiety disorder are frequent in adolescents experiencing a co-occurring disorder. Inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity are the primary symptoms diagnosed in co-occurring disorder
