, (a) Ubuntu is a South African term that refers to the belief in the connection and interdependence
between individuals within a community. It emphasizes that a person's well-being is intertwined with
the well-being of others. In my culture, we demonstrate Ubuntu by showing respect and hospitality
towards others. We believe in sharing resources and supporting one another in times of need. For
example, when a family celebrates a special event, such as a wedding, the entire community comes
together to contribute food, finances, and their presence to ensure the success of the event.
(b) In my chosen African language, which is Zulu, a vowel is a speech sound made with an open vocal
tract, allowing the air to flow freely. A consonant, on the other hand, is a speech sound where there is
some degree of constriction or closure in the vocal tract. An example of a vowel in Zulu is the sound 'a'
as in the word "amasiko" (meaning traditions). An example of a consonant is the sound 'b' as in the word
"abantu" (meaning people).
