West Chester Private School The world is an uncertain place with no guarantees of success or even continued success, especially with open system organizations that must be prepared for an external environment crisis at any moment. The West Chester Private School in Phoenix, Arizona was established in 1944by the Chandler and Gilbert families who made the school successful for 70 years with a reputation of being a premier educational institution renown for a safe, family-oriented environment that placed value on the community. In 2014, WCPS was sold to the Educational Management Services (EMS) and in 2018, attempts to expand into California failed due to regulations, however, in 2019 was successful at launching an International Baccalaureate Program (IBP) and plans for an online learning program, though they missed the opportunity (Oke, n.d.). With all its success, WCPS began facing closures, financial setbacks, and loss of support and has led to the discussion of the external environment and open systems, the internal environment and organizational culture, the closing decision and process, the challenge of technology and innovation, management theories, and the plans for future of WCPS will be discussed in this study.
